Finally, after a week of rehashing old ideas, we get some smart forward thinking on ways to get people to pay for online content. Kudos to Dan Vigil, whose background, notably, is in sales rather than editorial. His blog is going straight into my RSS feed. (There's more good stuff from him here and especially here.) And hat tip to Chuck Peters, who tweeted it.
Mr. Vigil's post was certainly on-target. My favorite points were the addition of databases and tools for the subscription model and bundling the local paper's Web site access with other services.
I still like the Micro Payment model because it feels like buying a single copy, and it's less likely to be more of an impact to subscribers.
